Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation

The Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation was established in 2005 and named after Hanns A. Pielenz. The non-profit foundation is a legal foundation of civil law and major shareholder of AMANN Group. Thus, AMANN Group is part of Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation.

The purpose of the foundation is the raising of funds to promote art and culture, science and research as well as formation and education.

Through the transfer of his shares to the foundation, Hanns A. Pielenz ensured the continuation of the traditional family business and a long-term support of regional cultural and charitable institutions.

The founder

Hanns A. Pielenz was born on November 22, 1939 in Heilbronn.
After graduating from school, he initially completed an apprenticeship as banker but eventually his interest shifted to the textile industry and he studied at the Hohenstein institute. After successfully graduating he started his professional career in the family business Amann & Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, which was founded by his great-grandfather in 1854.

Because of his profound expert knowledge, his tireless devotion and his entrepreneurial talent he was appointed as Chairman of the Management Board of AMANN Group already in 1968. He managed the affairs of the company very successfully over various decades until his retirement in 2005. Under his leadership, the traditional family enterprise became a globally operating, innovative company in the textile industry, renowned for highest quality of its products and services. Even after retiring from active business, Mr. Pielenz stayed strongly affiliated with AMANN Group and was a valued advisor and dialogue partner for the management board.

His innovation spirit and associated achievements for the whole textile industry were one of the reasons why he was honoured in 2009 with the Otto-Mecheels Medal, an award of the Hohenstein institute for special merits in science, industry and society.

This already sounds like a fulfilled working life – but Hanns A. Pielenz was still looking for more.
